SHOOP!
I have missed you so much...the 4 months of being away have been painful, yet enlightening...... in that time, my world has hit the bottom of the deep black sea and fought it's way back.....I wrestled the waves of heartbreak, betrayals and depression to feel the breath of life once more.
I left my old job for another and at the new place, I found the devil handing me a spoon shorter than his and fled...
My exalted friends proved themselves unworthy and my feet became unwelcome at the gates of my confidantes when I lost a lot of money in a huge investment.....
Blood weighed less than water and my heart broke when I found him in bed with my cousin. Why did he? Why did she? They both knew how I felt... he threw away 16 years of a tender loving friendship.... I can't take him back! Everyone thought we were meant for each other....fate did not.
Through these all, many little insults (I cannot mention) piled on my woes and I was pelted with flippant utterances from many who felt I was sinking to rise no more.....
When everything failed, GOD did not leave me and I sought him and he gave me peace through meditation and for me A NEW DAY HAS COME.
In many folds, I have recovered almost all that I lost except for...........but I know that I'll find that too, someday soon.

SOULFOOD
I did my best to help her believe in the silver lining after every cloud and then I proceeded to work up my own storm...I went through the tides of my real and imagined 'failures', my elusive goals and my challenges and really worked myself up to a thunderous level and then I packed my bags to go home.
However as I stepped into the train station, I saw a mother and her child huddled in the corner begging for money, food, clothing and whatever in the freezing rain and biting cold and I immediately felt a flood of shame wash over me. I gave them something and I got on on the train and then I realized... SO WHAT?! The year is ending and...
I am not ...Oprah Winfrey yet...so what?!
I don't own Microsoft Corporation yet...so what?!
I don't own a mansion in Lekki, a private jet and 2010 Range Rover yet(vera's influence)...so what?!
Yes I have big dreams! I am gonna get there...I know I will!
However, WHAT is important is that I never have to beg for anything or stand in the freezing rain and biting cold and for all that...I should be thankful.
The year is ending and I AM THANKFUL!

STUPID CUPID
It feels so crazy...
He is a cool kind of nerd (always has been) and he is kind and gentle but firm.
He is adventurous, ambitous, hard working and....mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I have known him for 16 years and been in love with him for 15years (I know!). I have had relationships…and I am not infatuated.
He was there for me like a knight in shinning armor and I don't want to ruin a delicate friendship.

I had hoped against hope that I will outgrow this... but its been 15years and I think cupid has no other arrow for me...

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity.
But one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the Negro is still not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.
In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir.
It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God's children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the Negro. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights.
But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.
We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.
And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.
Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.
I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. SO LITTLE TIME...

I hope this post doesn't end up sounding like the whines of a hassled woman but anyway here I go...
As I packed my bags a month ago, to live in France for 3months
I did a lot and left a lot undone because I had...So little time
A month on, I have done a lot and still have a lot to do and I am afraid that I may just have...So little time
Why is it that in this beautiful world that is colour filled with ambiguity and quest, man unlike other creatures always ends his journey without truly doing it all?
You do not agree? Well then, how many that are gone had the time to -
*rest as they should have
*smile and put a smile on another
*love and be loved as they would have wanted
*achieve that dream of going to space
*laze, for the experience of it
*reach the peak of their careers
*truly serve GOD
The list can go on but Alas! I have ...So little time.
I would like to be like Columbus and determine for myself if the world is round, flat, square or just God's drawing sheet...I long to love and be loved.
It would be fun to be an aerospace engineer, swim with dolphins, climb everest, be a neurologist and a regular blogger in the same vein.
Though these musings of mine have led caring friends to label me eccentric but my mind sometimes just won't let go.
I seek so strongly for an egress, I feel like I owe my reason for being to fully accomplish the mission that is ME(another story entirely).
I hope there are others like me out there...Can you hear me?
How do we do it all?
How do we relieve ourselves of the pressure of being who we are?
How do we give all we have to give and in turn receive what we want and need?
Why do the winds seem to transport us to lonely terres?
I do have enough time for a solemn prayer...

To the desert and back...
... Simply because you couldn't let them into a part of your life that you
felt they wouldn't understand. You know...
the sneaky phone calls,
the coming-home-late for no reason,
those unexplainable expenses,
that box that must never be opened,
the extra money in your account,
that new perfume...
the cloak and dagger lifestyle that is eating you away,
while you believe it is letting you glow.
Glowing in the desert?
Who is going to see your light?
The desert is a wasteland. A waste of time, energy and peace.
It saps you of your vigour, takes away your pride,
It makes you temperamental-bordering on insanity.
In a desert, you fight mirages, shadows and charades,
You win feeble victories for no just cause and even then your glory is thwarted because you have no verve to celebrate it.
No man who has ever been through a desert was at peace until he found Greenland.
Some men and women are lucky to escape the desert before they were buried by the sand dunes or misguided by the winds.
Some have given themselves to the desert believing it was their destiny.
This I'll say... your destiny goes where you lead it to.
I once found myself in a desert, with no hope for a better day; I toiled relentlessly for survival until I found that I was in a desert that had always been surrounded by Greenland.
I did the hard-easy... I broke free.
My land is GREEN.
Some might ask “what led you to the desert in the first place?” And if I’ll answer that truthfully, I’ll say it is fEaR.
Fear of the known and unknown…trying to fight the demons of the past and the mysteries of the future with the desert of the present.
I can hear your heart beating…I used to know that feeling, it’s called fear.
I don't know what desert you are in... Could be a comatose relationship, a gauche affair, a shady goldmine, a good intention gone sour...whatever it is... find your Greenland.

Omohemi Benson sent an article to some of her friends and I, titled, “Why men are never depressed”, stating the many differences between men and women.
One of the many things that struck me in that article was a line that said men could spend thirty seconds on the phone and say goodbye. I’d known for a long while that women found this trait in men really disturbing; after all, in a telephone conversation, you’re meant to ramble on, go back and forth, raise up matters of earth-shaking importance, or all other things women feel should be mulled over, worried about and torn to pieces in gossip…but I digress.
Some other points were, men are comfortable with just owning three pairs of shoes, and if by some omission they were forgotten in a list of invites to a party, they would not have a life-long feud with the person who forgot.My point exactly?
If there is anyone walking the face of the earth who thinks men and women are the same, the person has not figured it all out yet. The woman who complains to you about her day often does not really want a solution; she wants your empathy, for you to show concern, primarily.
A man’s instinct on the other hand is to conjure a solution. “Do it this way, dammit, and stop whining”, the man says, much to the chagrin of the female who is looking for a listening ear.
Men and women sit in trenches across from each other, in army uniforms, guns poking out from time to time, with a large expanse of no man’s land between them, littered with the slain bodies of misconceptions, misunderstandings and all the other things that fuel friction in relationships. The difference I want to talk about is something that some women have not figured out yet even though they know more about the male sex than is healthy for most “criminally-minded” men. The regular woman is able to sense when a partner is cheating, through observation, looking him in the eye, through some form of extra-sensory perception that men lose before they turn six years old.
She looks and she just knows, even without being able to tell the reason why, most of the time. She might never do anything about this knowledge, wearily resigning to the excesses of the philanderer and accepting his lying heart as her lot in life, but when she sets her mind to it, she knows and is sometimes silent. This is why many men, in their hearts, are afraid of the women who have stood with them through many years of uncontrolled urges.
There is one thing, however, that women do not seem to be able to grasp even with the innate powers they appear blessed with. Men can “love” in multiples. The same way a man can have an intimate engagement with someone he feels absolutely nothing for, is the same way he can “love” different women for different reasons. Angry women will call this ability many things, and those men who practice it, even worse names, but it does not change the reality of how men act sometimes. A man will “love” one woman for her great mind and her playful spirit, for the length of her legs and for the fact that she is very attractive and delightful to look at.
He will love another for her beauty and for her smile that lights up a room. These “loves” will be in separate compartments and when he says, “I love you” to either, he means it from the bottom of his heart (or the top, depending on your preference).
Are you starting to get my point? Men have this ability (many, many women will call it a vice) of “loving” in multiples. This is no excuse for the inability of some men to control themselves, but women should know that not all “I love you(s) are as simple as they sound. Seek for clarity from the man involved- Is he able to keep all his professions of love for your benefit alone? If he cannot, and you are unable to accept this, better to look for the fellow who can.

The Ring Thingy
The groom, who apart from being just 18 years older than stylish and beautiful Abbe was peculiar, he didn’t behave as if he was getting married, didn’t smile at the bride or anyone, didn’t look longingly into the bride’s eye! Didn’t look excited!...
I asked if anyone knew how they met and nobody knew, it sounded a bit odd as Abbe had always enjoyed flaunting every aspect of her life to every one of us.
I was beginning to think there could be an X-FILES theory somewhere when one of my girls said,
“What thingy?” I asked.
“Buki, that’s the new virus in town, some of our friends are frenzied with it and have become harmful to chaps, while some others have taken too large a dose of the anti-virus.”
“WHAT?” I asked dumbly
“We all wanna get married, some of us more than the others while some don’t, don’t be surprised if some of these girls spring up creepier grooms than Abbe’s” and with that she laughed and left me gawking.
I wondered what the frenzy was all about but as I looked into the faces of my girlfriends, I felt their fears, some of them had partied too hard, some had been too reclusive, some are ultramodern (like me). I don’t want the virus or thingy, but I’d like a normal ring sometime in the not-so-far-not-so-near future.
